The houses for rent promote the increase of tourism in Cuba
To date, the figures of tourists visiting Cuba reveal significant results for this sector. According to the information presented in the Parliament by the Tourism Minister, Manuel Marrero, 1,612,371 foreign visitors have visited the country.
In this growth of 5.15% in the visits of foreigners to the country, the houses for rent have been a key element, as an alternative for the accommodation of tourists, offering about 26,602 rooms in Havana and other regions of the country.
A total of 243,000 foreigners arrived in Cuba on cruise trips, this year, representing an increase of 36% in year-on-year terms.
For its part, 42.2% of visitors repeat their stay and the largest provider of tourists is Canada, while travel from European countries have been reduced by "the lack of direct flights between these nations," said the minister.
In spite of the increases in the figures of the tourist sector, Cuba maintains its aspiration to reach more than 5 million tourists and a percentage growth of 7%.
In order to meet this goal, government authorities have decided to implement a new strategy to achieve a variety of hotels throughout the island, in order to find more competitive and higher quality products.
