San Carlos and San Severino of Matanzas is a city in Cuba, was founded in October 1693 in a privileged place in the geography of northern Cuba between the river Yumurí, San Juan and Canimar. Located on the north coast of Cuba, Matanzas is the capital of the province of the same name. For his literary and cultural development, Matanzas is also known as "The Athens of Cuba." This development starts from 1813, when the city received yumurina benefits of the introduction of printing. It is believed that this year begins the Golden Age of Matanzas.
